Delhi Court Denies Bail to Chief Minister Kejriwal's Aide in Assault Case

A Delhi court dismissed the bail plea of Bibhav Kumar, an aide of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Monday. The case involves the alleged assault of Swati Maliwal.
Additional Sessions Judge Sushil Anuj Tyagi of Tis Hazari Courts rejected Kumar's plea. Kumar's lawyers, Rajat Bharadwaj and Karan Sharma, represented him in court.

Kumar is scheduled to appear in court on May 28. He was previously placed in police custody for five days.

The FIR was filed following a written complaint by Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. Kumar was arrested on May 18.

On Sunday, the Delhi Police requested a four-day judicial custody remand for Kumar. They claimed that Kumar has been uncooperative during the investigation, providing evasive answers and refusing to disclose his mobile phone password, which is crucial for the probe.

The police stated that after receiving a report from experts, they might need Kumar for further questioning to complete the investigation. Some team members are conducting inquiries in Mumbai and are expected to return with evidence soon, requiring Kumar's further confrontation.

Swati Maliwal alleged that Kumar assaulted her when she went to meet Kejriwal at his residence on May 13.
